Assateague Island National Seashore Maryland and Virginia
The wild horses of Assateague Island are descendents of domesticated animals brought to the island over 300 years ago.
The horses are wild, so stay at least 40 feet away.
Park patrol followed the horses to ensure both visitors and the horses safety.
As you can see, the park patrol had to assist the horses keeping them at a distance from the visitors enjoying the beach.
Assateague Island National Seashore has a Foster Horse Program.

Fantastic experience for this past summer! When I arrived to the island, took my camera and there were the horses!!! Really lucked out! Adopted April Star, a Pinto Mare. P.S. Hope you are digging out of the snowstorm from yesterday Michael! Blessings, Lori
